I talk a hell of alot about it.
The Gruesomes were a Montreal *boy* band that played the bars my boyfriends bands also played.
I assume they were rich boys.Montreal West I think.
I spent almost a full year of my life loving one of the Davis brothers.....JOHN( insert curly eyed heart icon here ).
I was one of *those* groupies that followed but never spoke.I was certainly star struck easily.
John was short, dark and mysterious(then again his bangs curled under his eyes...he couldn't help it!)
Their pop-garage 60's style pre-punk was one of a kind at the time.OOOH the 3$ entrance fee and one beer minimum was worth it!
Their first album was probably funded by someones daddy...but who cared!!
Years later on a drunken night I shared a cab home with Johns brother Eric(the drummer who was replaced) ...he was a sad,non cool egotistical wimp.My groupie days were shattered.
Circa 2003 and I come across their music online.I still love it.Still *get* it ...and it brings me right back...but you just know Bobby Beaton is probably working as a manager of The Royal Bank somewhere in Vancover. EH? Rich boy teen angst at it's finest......I loved those boys!

I was digging through my moms storage today and came across a Greusomes euro cut 45....
I remember when bands just were NOT cutting it here they would say "WE ARE HUGEEEEEE in Europe."
Sure you are,David Hasselhoof.....
Latest Gruesomes update....John Davis(the one *I* loved) works as some stage assistant here in Montreal and is helping get props for my best fried who has been Montreal's *Frank* in Rocky Horror ,the musical(duh) for the past few years.
I better get out the slimfast so I can check him out.
Once a groupie,always a groupie.

AHHHHHH!!! I LOVED the Gruesomes!!! "Je Cherche" and "Leave My Kitten Alone" were kickass tunes!
I met up w. another Montreal band a few summers ago (they played "Mod Chicago" fest - btw - check out www.modchicago.com)
"The Chains" was the name of that band - they kicked serious soulful ass - I actually bought the cd and had them autograph it. I'm such a goober =- but damn, their singer is a cutie, brian jones hairdo and all!!
